REPORT
"Protect Snow Leopard"
Donations received through this activity:
Various initiatives in the habitat
We are making good use of it.
for example,
Ecological research on wild snow leopards
Environmental education for local children, etc.
Here are some examples of how donations are being used.
Various donations
All of the profits from the sale of snow leopard goods (wool products and honey) jointly planned and developed with JICA's One Village One Product Project (OVOP), as well as donations received through activities of the "MAMORO PROJECT" such as lectures, events, and the Footprint Project, are used to support ecological surveys and conservation activities of wild snow leopards, as well as environmental education activities for local children, in cooperation with the Snow Leopard Foundation in Kyrgyzstan, an NGO/NPO organization in the snow leopard's habitat.
Ecological research into wild snow leopards
Donations are used to purchase infrared cameras, which are essential for the ecological research of wild snow leopards, cover the cost of gasoline to travel to the research site, the maintenance costs of the research huts, the employment costs of rangers, etc. Activities in Mongolia , India , and Kyrgyzstan so far can be seen on each PROJECT page, and footage taken with the infrared cameras can be seen in the " GALLERY ".
For children's environmental education
There are zoos in Japan that keep snow leopards, but there are none in Kyrgyzstan. As a result, most people in Kyrgyzstan have never seen a snow leopard. Wild snow leopards live in high mountains with very low population densities, making them extremely difficult to find. To the local people, snow leopards are "phantom creatures." We support environmental education programs run by Kyrgyz NGOs and NPOs with donations so that people can get a real sense of the world in which snow leopards exist and how they are connected to their lives.
Snow leopard car
In 2022, we purchased a minibus (Snow Leopard CAR) and donated it to an NGO/NPO in Kyrgyzstan as a means of transportation for wild snow leopard research and children's eco-camps. During the summer vacation, we carry about 80 local children to eco-camps at snow leopard research sites.
